Monday's Faves

Obviously, you don't have to have a quilt at your photo sessions. But, I can't remember the last time I didn't. Beyond making sure your clients don't have to sit on the dirty ground, they are the perfect prop without being "proppy" (yes, I just made up that word). They can add some extra color and contrast to any photo. And, their pratical uses are just as important. You clients are in their finest clothes, so don't make them get those clothes dirty.

These are three quilts I would take with me if I had a photo session today. They are full of different colors, so they are sure to match whatever my client showed up wearing.

These quilts are still available in the shop (as of 8AM, 10/9/17).

Shout Out | Brooke Musial Photography

Quilts were made for mommy and me sessions. These photos from Brooke Musial Photography are perfect, full of love, and make me want a daughter. These are photos that this sweet girl will always cherish, forever.

Brooke chose a stunning location during magic hour and used her Stitched and Found quilt as the perfect layer for some momma snuggles. Quilts don't have to be the focal point of a session, they don't need to be. The people you are shooting should be the main focus. But, goodness, they add the perfect bit of texture to photos.

Monday's Faves

todayspicks.jpg

There are many opinions on the best quilts for photo sessions. A lot of this comes down to the look and feel you are going for. If you shoot more bright and airy, quilts with more white may be best. If you are a moodier shooter, then quilts with less bright and happy colors might be best.

But, for me, these quilts will always work when I show up to a photo session. I always lean towards quilts with a variety of colors. I don't always know what my client will show up wearing, so it is helpful to have every color available. I also always grab quilts with a lot of blues and darker tones. Blue always matches outfits well and darker tones add contrast to my photos.

Also, I had a photo session this past Friday evening and took all three of these with me! These are all still available in the shop (as of 8AM CST 10/2).

Churn Dash Quilt - $115

This lovely quilt is also in great condition. It has a variety of colors, with bits of deeper colors. I have found that quilts with these deeper colors show up extra well for photos. I also have a thing for floral fabrics.
