family session

My Picks for Photographers

Are you a photographer? Me too. I always bring at least three different quilts with me to an outdoor photo session. Why? It is always good to have something for your clients to sit on if you want them on the ground. I personally hate getting my nice clothes dirty, and you don’t want to ask your clients to do that! The quilts also add some color and texture to photos.

With over 100 new quilts this week, it is overwhelming to look through them all and choose the best one for you. So, I picked my favorites for a photo session. If I was running out the door today for a family session, I would grab three or more of these quilts below!

I try to grad one or two quilts with lots of blue fabrics. Blue seems to always match whatever my clients show up wearing. I then grad a quilt that is more multi colored because they always match too. I then find one with more white. This fits my style and will match well too.

These are all available tonight (Thursday, 3/28/2019) at 8PM CST. They are in order by price below and not be my favorites (I would take any of them with me). The prices below range from $165 to $50! Simply click on the photos to see their flaws, measurements, photos, and prices!

Here are some examples of the types of quilts I have used in the past for my photo sessions!

Shout Out | Jacquelyn Arora Photography

One of my favorite things is taking photos for people I know and care about. Jacquelyn, of Jacquelyn Arora Photography, nailed this photo shoot. She takes pride in producing photos full of emotion and connection. This is why she loves documenting families. She has known this adorable (these kids y'all) family for 10 years. I love how Jacquelyn photographed them as a *family*. So many tickles, so many laughs, and so many snuggles. They ended their session letting the kids run around under her Stitched and Found quilt and then some final snuggles.

Meet the Photographer

Meet Jacquelyn! She is born and raised in Westerville, Ohio. Her heart is with photographing families because she loves to capture raw family moments, emotion, joy, laughter, and even tears. She feels so lucky that she gets to do this everyday and to be able to give families such delicate, heartfelt memories.

She began her journey in 2010, after her son was born. She is self taught but is always learning and loves online education. She was a labor and delivery RN for 10 years but began shooting more and more and over the last 3-4 years has gone full time. She has three kids (twin boy/girl age 4, and a 7 year old boy). They keep her extra extra busy. Her kids don't always love her constant documenting, but her new dog, Norman, doesn't mind the camera one bit!

Shout Out | Kathryn Johnson Photography

DSC_1421.jpg

This is a special session, one that no one wants to shoot. These beautiful photos document the loss of a child. This couple experienced an ectopic pregnancy and these photos were taken instead of their planned maternity session. In memory of their baby, they planted a flower garden. The flowers in these photos are from that same garden. Kathryn did an excellent job capturing the sorrow and life through the photos.

As photographers, we are here to capture people's lives. And not all of our days are full of happy smiles. Our lives are full of loss, and I am thankful that Kathryn captured these real, hard moments.

This quilt of Kathryn's that graces these photos is one of my favorites. It is a beautiful quilt that is full of pastels. Scroll to the end to learn more about Kathryn and to show her some love in the comments!

Kathryn is a natural light photographer in Tulsa, Oklahoma. As a new photographer, Kathryn is currently shooting a little bit of everything, from newborn and fresh 48 sessions, to family portraits and lifestyle sessions. She got her first DSLR last November, and her only wish is that she had started sooner! Her favorite subject is her 19 month old daughter, Norah, and that will soon grow to include a baby boy in January. When not behind the lens or the computer, Kathryn works part time at her church, and is the president of a non-profit for families who have experienced pregnancy losses, called Hannah’s Hope.
