Christmas and winter are my favorite times of year. The crisp air, the sometimes snowy mornings (I'm in Tennessee where we don't get too much snow!), and twinkling lights literally everywhere. It is a time of joy and of hope.
We have moved every year since we were married over five years ago. This will be our sixth Christmas in our sixth home. At the end of last year, as this crazy business began to grow, I started collecting "quilt" items for my tree. So many of the pieces fell into my lap and some I bought from local retail stores. This corner of our home reflects the exact vision I had for our Christmas this year.
Want to know where something is from? I tried to list everything below:
TREE: Target Black Friday two years ago! | STAR TOPPER: Target this year | HEART ORNAMENTS: Estate Sales | YO-YO GARLAND: made myself (what what!) | GLASS ORNAMENTS: Estate Sale | STOCKINGS: blarneyhouse | SLED: Nashville Flea Market | LARGE DOUGH BOWL: Nashville Flea Market | SMALL SNOW SHOES: Hobby Lobby (this year!) | QUILT: me! | CROCK: Auction (from my great uncle) | GOOSE: Nashville Flea Market | TOBACCO BASKET: Nashville Flea Market | HORN: Estate Sale | TREE PRINT: Vintage Shop | MANTLE FIGURINES: Hobby Lobby (this year!) | WREATHS/GREENERY: Nashville Flea Market | CHRISTMAS VILLAGE: inherited from my grandmother | QUILT PILLOWS: All over, everywhere!
I was going to use a quilt as my tree skirt. That had been the plan all year. But then I saw Liz Marie (my fave home decor blog) put her tree in a crock. So, I obviously had to try it! I instantly fell in love... It isn't super sturdy, but if we added some sand bags it would make it safer. We don't have kids pulling on it, so I am not worried about it moving. It won't fall, but it will definitely go lopsided.
These stockings. I feel like they tie the entire room together. I searched every where for the perfect stockings. I finally stumbled upon some beautiful ones on eBay (of all places!)! Go check out blarneyhouse on ebay! You will have to search through pages and pages of her inventory, but she has *so* many beautiful stockings available! Some of these are still available too!
To keep it simple, I took some white ornaments I picked up from Hobby Lobby and put them in a piece I already owned. I stacked my World Market wooden tray inside my wire tray (I found this beaut at the Nashville Flea Market) to add more texture. I finished it off with some pieces of garland. Simple, but perfect.
My tobacco basket has been the focal point of my living room since I bought it from the Nashville Flea Market over a year ago. I hung a simple wreath in the middle. I had picked up this old horn from an estate sale last month. I thought it fit perfectly hanging from the wreath.
The sweet carolers and pink house I picked up from Hobby Lobby. They are super glittery and super perfect. The tree print is from a local antique store here in Nashville!
Most of the ornaments I found at various estate sales around Nashville over the summer. The yoyo garland I actually made myself. I bought a box of yoyos off of eBay this past spring. I simply sewed them together (FYI, they tangle super easily. I learned this the hard way!).
My Christmas village is one of my most priced possessions. My grandmother gave it to me years and years ago. I have so many memories of helping her set it up each year. I can still picture how she placed each piece. I had this table built to fit behind my couch this summer. I wanted it for many reasons, but this was definitely the main reason. The sign was designed by me and made by a friend (she is no longer making signs or I would refer you!). All of the quilt pillows are from various places around Nashville that I have found over the years.
Add some beautiful greenery and you have yourself a beautifully decorated Christmas. I picked up this wreath last week from the Nashville Flea Market. I was going to find something to put in my pitcher, but I am falling in love with the simplicity of my table. Maybe I will set it next week and take some more photos.
I still have a little more decorating to do. I want to buy some small trees for my front porch. I typically put my sled on my porch, but I am loving it here by the tree. Now, Nashville, get cold so we can actually have a fire going next to the tree.
