The Guest Room = The Fave Room

We were dirt poor when we got married. We were 19 years old, starting our second year of college, living in a roach and mold infested duplex, and living off of my parent's meat they gave us from the farm! It was hard, and looking back, I don't know how we even survived. I look back on those hard years when I am faced with scary things now. When I face my fears and anxieties with facts and truths, they seem a little less scary (and overcomeable!)! We are capable of handling so much more than our present state of mind can comprehend.

Since we were poor, it wasn't until recently have I been able to decorate a guest bed. When we moved into our new home a year ago, this was the first room that was completely decorated. It is so bright, colorful, and me.

The walls are still my least favorite color brown. But, with those high ceilings, I am going to have to hire someone to paint it. And, that means moneyyyyyys. So, it stays brown. I also noticed while taking these photos that I need curtains in here!

The bed frame is a metal frame that was painted red. I have the foot board in my attic, but I don't have a way to fasten it to the existing frame. I bought this from my friend Sharon. The hats are from random thrift stores along with most of the pillows. The three back pillows are from Target! My go-to bedding is always a white quilt or bedspread. I am always changing out the quilts and pillows, but the neutral white is timeless! Also, most quilts won't cover a normal size bed, so this way I can use any size quilt as an accent!

The wood pieces of furniture are from local antique stores. They are my dream pieces, and I am currently on the look out for a wooden bed. But, friends, they are so pricey!!

I am obsessed with the bright colors that fill this room. I am leaning more towards neutrals right now, but this space brings me so much joy. Bright colors can add so much life to a space.

Lastly, this wicker piece is from my grandmother. I sat in this room a couple of days ago while some kids played with the toys. I stared at this special piece. I remember playing on this wicker bookcase when I was a child. I treated it like a house with different stories. Oh the adventures this piece has seen. When my grandmother was getting rid of it years ago, I had to have it. So, as I sat watching those kids play, I day dreamed about the day when my kids would use this piece as their doll house!

Hanging Hats and Pillows

My guest room is definitely the cheeriest room in the house. I can't wait until I can finally get those walls slapped with some white paint! After that, I will definitely be taking my daily naps in this room!

Cathedral Window Quilt

I'm going to enjoy this one for as long as possible! It's currently loving the peaceful space in my guest bedroom. It makes me smile every time I walk past this room. These quilts bring me such joy. They are full of so much beauty, history, and hours (years?) of work. I love looking at them and thinking about their stories
